Tanja's insights

I find it a wonderful task to be a host together with our family. I want to set an example for my son that even in stressful times, there is room for family, that we are grateful and most importantly: stick together!

Sepp and I met a long time before we fell in love – even then I thought to myself: What a creative, energetic and always good-humoured guy – just really exSEPPtional.

My job, my passion at that time was the Steinbock Alm in Hinterthal. The time on the mountain was very labour-intensive and I was all the more pleased to see Sepp, who often packed his touring skis late at night to visit me… and so everything took its course. It soon became clear that we were heading in the same direction. It’s so much fun spinning and realising ideas with him. His creativity knows no bounds – and every now and then I bring him back down to earth, which is certainly not a bad thing. As much as we both love our home country, we are always drawn to faraway places. We’re just too curious, soak up foreign cultures, architecture and landscapes and always come home with lots of ideas.

Our greatest wish and dream came true on 1 January 2018: Sepp – the 4th generation in the Eder family – was born. He has turned our whole life upside down and enriched it so much. Now, of course, I’m first and foremost a mum and I’m enjoying it to the full. And honestly, I didn’t think it would be so much work! But whenever time allows and Grandma Gerti & Grandpa Karli or Grandma Trude step in, I’m at the company and help out wherever I can. There should never be a lack of warmth here, that’s particularly important to me. The little things – even if it’s just a friendly “Grüß Gott” or a genuine smile – make all the difference. I particularly enjoy working with herbs. My training as a herbal practitioner allows me to experience the incredible gifts that nature has in store for us. I put my heart and soul into processing the herbs of our region into salts, tinctures, ointments and much more. Our guests can also enjoy the culinary delights or take part in a herb hike or workshop. On www.almerin.at you will find many recipes and interesting facts about this topic from me.
