Almer children with special needs

Enjoying your own happiness while contributing to the happiness of others – that’s the idea behind a special culinary event organised by hotelier Josef Schwaiger and gourmet chef Markus Lorbeck.

In October 2018, gourmet chef Markus Lorbeck hosted his pop-up concept “Interpretation Pinzgau” at Hotel SEPP on two evenings. As part of the traditional Eder Game Weeks, the well-known chef created a delicious six-course menu centred around game at the live cooking station in the SEPP attic.

The limited tickets for the culinary event sold out quickly. For the price of 149 euros per person, guests were able to enjoy a sumptuous gourmet experience: The menu with six delicious creations by exceptional chef Markus Lorbeck as well as the wine accompaniment with fine wines from renowned wineries such as winemaker Leo Hillinger offered exceptional culinary delights with true explosions of flavour! The extravagant ambience in the attic of the Hotel SEPP emphasised the special atmosphere of enjoyment in harmony with the culinary delights.

Cooking for a good cause

The gourmet experience was dedicated to a good cause: the proceeds of 30 euros per person were to be donated to a charitable initiative. A total of 1,300 euros was raised thanks to the numerous guests at the event. In an effort to find an appropriate charitable cause, the two initiators of the extraordinary event ultimately decided to donate the event proceeds to the fund for children with special needs in Alm.

In March 2019, hotelier Josef Schwaiger from Maria Alm and Pinzgau star chef Markus Lorbeck handed over a donation cheque for 1,300 euros to the charitable platform in Maria Alm. Greti and Fred Aberger accepted the cheque on behalf of the fund together with their daughter Lena. The proceeds will now benefit three families in Maria Alm. The charitable initiative supports children with disabilities with assistance and aids that make their lives easier and more enjoyable.

From the outset, the declared aim of the culinary kick-off event was to combine a gourmet experience with a good cause. The fact that the idea met with such a positive response and raised such an impressive amount naturally encourages the initiators to continue. A continuation of the gourmet event at Hotel SEPP to collect further donations is therefore already being planned.
